The patriotic Platinum Jubilee feel around the country manifested itself into a comprehensive win for the 1s as they travelled to Hazel Grove determined to transfer their cup form into league wins and, on the day, a straightforward win was registered with the hosts blown away for just 53 runs.
From the first over, the writing was on the wall as the Grove openers couldn't lay a bat on Rob and Ellis.
The inevitable first wicket eventually fell when Burke was LBW to Rob and wickets then fell at regular intervals with Rob (3 for 22) and Ellis (2 for 30).
The ground fielding was, once again, impressive and with Ben snaffling three catches behind the stumps, all was going well for OG.
Hazel Grove were 45 for 5 when Paul Littlewood was introduced into the attack and the bowling change proved to be quite a success with Flicker bowling with pace and accuracy to record amazing figures of 5 wickets for just 1 run.
Would it be enough to claim MOM?
Collapsing from 45 for 5 to 53 all out, the hosts were shell shocked and OG took to the changing rooms for refreshments and determined to knock off the necessary runs for victory.
The sun continued to shine throughout and with Adam Demidh in no mood to relinquish our advantage, he took the attack to the Grove bowling with some punishing drives early on.
Moving serenely to 20, he then lost his opening partner, Jehrome Sagar for 2, and then Mark Allen, unfortunately for a duck, to very briefly raise the hopes of the home team.
Ben Whitehouse joined him at the crease and a 30 partnership took us to the brink of the win before Ben departed for a run a ball 18.
Adam then steered us home (30 not out) to a comprehensive win.
A great knock but not enough to get the MOM, which goes to Flicker for his unbelievable fer 5 which set us up for the win.
Dove Holes at home next week and a Bissenden Semi Final against Woodley on the horizon.
God Save The Queen !!
