March Newsletter

Updated: Mar 2, 2021

CRICKET GETS GREEN LIGHT

With the delivery last week of the road map out of lockdown, we received the positive news that recreational cricket should get the go ahead on time in April! Which I’m sure you will agree is fantastic news! Roll on the 2021 season!! In the mean time whilst we continue to count down the days, have a read of March’s edition of the OG newsletter.

FEB HIGHLIGHTS

BONUS BALL BOOM

After the massive £560 rollover was finally won by the OG 1st XI a couple of weekends ago, new members were invited to join the scheme. The response has been amazing with new members hitting double figures, therefore increasing the weekly jackpot to £110. The decision was then taken to close to new members in order to still leave potential for future rollovers & therefore further excitement! Even though there are currently no bonus balls left available to purchase at the moment, if anyone is still interested in joining we do have a waiting list. Please email Andy King - kingandy9470@gmail.com for more details.

KIT ORDER

The new ICON kit was finalised this month. We are very pleased with the amount of people who have supported the new kit by purchasing on and off field items. Bulk orders of playing shirts, hoodies, T20 shirts & pants have now been placed with ICON. We can’t wait to see everyone wearing the kit around the club in the coming months! Once the playing shirts have arrived we are hoping to get a squad photo done with everyone wearing the new kit.

VIRTUAL AGM RECAP

The club AGM was held virtually this year. It was great to see so many join the meeting despite it being held on ZOOM.

Thanks must be given to the departing captains & special mention should be given to Bob Johnson who steps down as president after over a decade in the position.

New positions for 2021 included:

Paul Eyre as President.

Rob Adderley & Martin McGrail were elected 1st team captain and vice respectively.

For its first full season Leon Martyn & George White have taken on the responsibility of 3rd team captain and vice.

We would like to wish all officers, captains & junior managers good luck for the upcoming season.

FUNDRAISING SUB-COMMITTEE

At the AGM it was discussed that a fundraising sub-committee was to be created. We are delighted how quickly this has come to fruition. Andy Tomlinson has agreed to take the lead on the sub-committe. We are already excited at some of the ideas being discussed and now we can plan ideas for the season now we know what the planned relaxation of COVID restrictions are.

GROUND SUB-COMMITTEE

Also at the AGM it was agreed a sub-committee for the ground work should be set up. This is to be headed up by Andy King. Pre season work has started in earnest with the rolling of the square being priority at the moment. If you are interested in joining the ground sub-committee contact Andy - kingandy9470@gmail.com
