Cricket is back at OGCC this month!! This summer we have 3 senior teams, 3 junior teams & a ladies team. Find out what April has in store below..
Get Set Weekend - 2nd-3rd April 2022
Get set for the season is an initiative for cricket clubs encouraging members of the club and local community to get together to get the ground ready for the new season.
Our Get Set Weekend is the 2nd/3rd April. So if you can spare an hour or two, all volunteers would be greatly appreciated. Many hands make light work and all that!!
U15/19 Junior Training - 6th April
Outdoor junior training starts Wednesday 6th April at the cricket club. Lancashire coach Alex Newby will be coaching the U15/19s again this season. Training runs from 6.30-8pm.
If you require any Spire Construction sponsored junior kit for the new season, our online shop is here. There is a 4-6 week lead time on kit orders so please order now to get it as quick as possible.
Junior Registration Night - 8th April
Junior registration and open evening is to take place on Friday 8th April at 6.30pm.
All of us at OGCC are looking forward to welcoming families back to the club on Friday evenings for junior cricket. We hope to see the kids on the playing field and you parents kicking back after their working week in the sunshine. The more the merrier, so if you’ve not been to the club before, please feel free to come along. We’re quite a friendly bunch!
This year we will be running the ECBs All Starts (age 5-8) and Dynamos (8-11) programmes. More information is below, or on the ECB web site, but these are fantastic courses that we have had great feedback about from other clubs. Practice will then run every week 6:30 - 8:00 until the school summer holidays with the Allstars and Dynamos courses officially starting on the 6th May for 8 weeks. If you want to come along for the first few sessions in April to see if the kids take to it before booking onto the courses, that’s absolutely fine.
You don’t need to wait until registration night though, please book onto the Allstars and Dynamos by following this like. And yes, the kids get STUFF!

Cricket & Fixtures - April
Ins & Outs
Firstly the club are delighted to announce the signings of James Lythgoe and Zaeem Arshad.
James is moving to the area this summer after finishing university at Chester. He has previously played in the Cumbrian, and North Staffs & South Cheshire leagues. A top order batter who bowls spin. James is a very welcome addition at OG.
Zaeem is a promising junior who joins us from Woodhouses in the GMCL. Another top order batter who also bowls spin. We are all looking forward to welcoming Zaeem into the fold and watching his continued development.
We also wanted to announce that Chris Joy & Stuart Dodd have left the club to join Newton & Tintwistle respectively, for the 2022 season.
Chris broke into the first team over the last few years, making the opening batting slot his own. It’s a shame to see Chris leave after promotion last season, but we wish him all the best at Newton. We hope one day to see Chris back at the club in the future.
Doddy brought a wealth of experience to the second team bowling, which will be sorely missed. We wish Stuart good luck as he returns to his old stomping ground Tintwistle in 2022.
